การแสดงเป่าแคนม้ง

แคนม้งหรือชื่อในภาษาม้ง คือ Qeej (อ่านว่า เฆ่ง) เป็นเครื่องดนตรีประเภทใช้เป่าที่มีความสำคัญต่อวิถีชีวิตและวัฒนธรรมประเพณีม้งมาแต่โบราณกาล และยังถือเป็นสัญลักษณ์บ่งบอกเอกลักษณ์ความเป็นคนม้งที่ดีอย่างหนึ่งด้วย วัสดุให้กำเนิดสียงทำจากลำไม้ไผ่หกชิ้นที่ให้เสียงแตกต่างกัน มักมีการประดับประดาให้ดูสวยงามเป็นเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะตัว

Qeej มีบทบาทลากหลายตั้งแต่พิธีงานแต่งงาน งานศพ ไปจนถึงพิธีกรรมด้านความเชื่ออื่นๆ ชาวม้งเชื่อกันว่า Qeej สามารถช่วยในการสื่อสารระหว่างโลกมนุษย์และปรโลกได้ นอกจากนี้ยังใช้เพื่อความบันเทิงผ่านการแสดงดนตรีและการเต้นรําแคนที่มีชีวิตชีวาอีกด้วย

ชาวม้งมีความพยายามในการอนุรักษ์มรดกทางวัฒนธรรมนี้ ให้ดำรงอยู่สืบไปในหมู่เยาวชนชาวม้ง จึงสรุปได้ว่า Qeej เป็นมากกว่าเครื่องดนตรี โดยถือเป็นรากฐานทางวัฒนธรรมประเพณีและสังคมของชาวม้ง
